Hello. I've been playing tenor for about 12 years now, and never even played an alto until two years ago, but I finally got myself a Mark VII alto, and the Meyer mouthpiece I use on it just isn't cutting it for me. On my tenor I use a Lawton 8* for jazz and a Caravan for classical. Where would be a good place to start looking for a jazz alto piece?
Thanks!

I personally use a Vandoren V16 A5M which is similar in tone to a vintage Meyer (or so says the literature!). You could try a Meyer G. If possible it sounds like you need to spend some quality time at the music store and try out as many mouthpieces as you can.
What kind of sound and tone do you want to produce? This is really the first step.

I'd really like my sound to be focused, even, almost a "Blue Note Era" sound...My Meyer 7M just isn't cutting it. It's too dark for me. And not very even.

focused ... try a Morgan Excalibur

Didn't a great many alto players of that era play Meyers? Perhaps you might want to try a Meyer 6M or 7M, preferable tweaked a bit by an expert refacer?
Along a similar line, have you read "Switching from Meyer 5M to Jazzier Sound..." in this category? Might have a few pertinent ideas for you, as well.
