Metal Quantum, XL & Smoothbore

The XL and Smoothbore... yes. The Quantum no. The Q is a duckbil tip, with larger chamber. The XL and S'bore are smaller chamber and throat. My experience, and I think most would agree, is that the Q favors tenor ... and the XL / S'bore is a great alto piece. I dont really know to many people that have found their soulmate in a Q on alto. Gives a pretty spread sound IMHO.

From what I've heard, they are all made on the same machine out of bar stock. There are no blanks that is pre-made on another process.

The XL is Delrin plastic and the Smoothbore is Chrome plated brass. Otherwise they are dimensionally the same.

The Quantum has the thin low bite area and the bore is the same as the neck cork. The XL/Smbr tries for a bore that is the same as the neck end inside diameter.

The "new" Brilhart Level Airs have a Smothbore outside and a Quantum inside. Same machine.
