I just got George Garzone's "Four's and Two's" CD. This might be old hat for some of you, it was recorded in 1996, but for those who haven't heard it, you might want to give it a listen. George shares some of the cuts with Joe Lovano and boy, oh boy! If you've ever wanted an incentive to get off your butt and go practice, or better yet play with someone, this CD will do it.

"Four's and Two's" is one of my favorite recordings! :D I picked that one up years ago, and I still shed with it - Garzone is underated, IMHO. I've seen Garzone and Lovano play together live a few times - once in Philly, and once at the Vanguard. It seems that they push each other into another zone - it's an amazing experience to see live!

An amazing CD indeed. I prefer Garzone over the more known Lovano. It must be a pretty crazy live show.
There must be more lydian licks being thrown around than one thought humanly possible.

If you like Garzone you should check the album:

"Hey why don't we play Mack The Knife real slow and in minor"... from 2002

A great album and maybe not very known outside Denmark.
