I'm thinking of getting a custom Runyon for Bari. I've been playing Bari for 3 years now, two more on alto. The problem is I'm not quite sure what facing I should get. Right now I'm using a Selmer C* and think the tone is way too dark and non-responsive for me.
Thanks a bunch-

The C* you are playing should be about an .080" tip opening according to the charts. You are probably ready to move up in size to a .090"-.095" tip. You may need to drop off 1/2 strength in reed to get a similar resistance. You should try a Runyon 7 and/or 8. Get one with the removable Spoiler option.

My own son has played the Custom Bari #7 for concert band for the last three years. As Mojo recommended, the C* is rather small, and you are ready to move up to a more professional facing. A Rico 2 1/2 will be a good place to start fine tuning your reed needs.
