Saxophones for sale (I will have picture and serial numbers in a following post).

I have the following excellent-playing saxophones for sale or trade. Each has either just been re-built with new everything, or elevated to excellent PC. Some horns had minor dents, dings, indents removed. These are excellent horns that I have played on serious gigs. Each comes with good case and no mouthpiece, strap, access.

NOTE: I play these horns daily using very good, very expensive mouthpieces. When I say a horn plays well, it is an extremely subjective opinion. I've been playing forever. I can also make any of these horns sound like crap without much effort by a mismatched reed and lig, or with a mismatched mpc (say, a chubby little conn vintage number on a 1950's Bundy Special). Or I can use an "ensemble" mpc like a Yamaha 4C and sound like the guy in the next seat (and I would be loved by most band directors).

Bundy Special alto. Keilwerth stencil. $600 OBO
RTH. Plastic intact. Good case. Orignal neck. As good as an intermediate/ pro horn gets! Great pads, great cork, bumpers, recent tune-up, a few cosmetic minor dents removed. Lacquer ~97%

Conn 6m viii. $1100
RTH. Underslung. Tuning neck. The works! Slight rim bend repaired. Beautiful rose lacquer @ ~90% (I'm guessing there is too much copper in brass. This was my first viii 6m and it played much better than the 6+ 6m's I have played over the years. SN 320,xxx

Bundy, Geo. M. tenor. Conn stencil.
I hand buffed away 75 years of "stuff" (there never was any lacquer) and it is now bare brass and has a very deep gold color. It plays incredibly well. I actually prefer it over my Couf S 1 tenor. I love these first edition Bundy's. This is a pro horn and at a good price of $700 OBO. SN 52xxx

Bundy, Geo. M, alto. Conn stencil.
Same as above, except an alto with almost the same SN. It has been stripped and I am planning on applying a couple of coats of clear lacquer, just to see what it will look like in 10 years. If you want it, I can put it back together with or without the clear coat. Who do you know has a matched set of these 1927... Bundys? SN 51xxx Price Negotiable

Bundy, Tenor. The Buescher stencil with all the beautiful bell engraving. It has been hand stripped and I was planning on clear coating it like the alto above. Sell as is or leave stripped, or lacquer. Make offer. SN ??

Hohner President alto. Keilwerth stencil.
I have sold a bunch of these locally. They are a bit odd in that they have an oversized throat and an under-sized rim. RTH. This horn is almost flawless and plays great. $450 OBO. Good for young player with smaller hands, although I have pianist hands and I prefer to take this horn on gigs when I need a very clean appearance.

Selmer Bundy - later Buescher stencil.
No bell engraving (good place to put "Vote for Pedro" sticker!) Very clean and sounds wonderful 1960's model, very clean. Lacquer ~98

Buescher True Tone, very deep bronze lacquer (see pics). SN 238xxx. This is perhaps my best playing alto. Lacquer is quite flammable, so do not wear it to bed, and is very beautiful. It could use some attention to one of the double post that supports the cross-over lever near top of upper stack. I've been playing it for years and it never gave me any trouble. I cannot understand why this horn plays so well. I take my Selmer to the garage when I practice with the TT so it wont feel ashamed. Incredible! $700.

Hi. I will consider a trade for anything I have for sale (Couf tenor, Bundy Special, ... see recent posts). I am interested in a good baritone sax. I have owned the following baris in the past: Martin Handcrafted, Buescher TT gold plate, Yani, King.

I also have a new graphite neck Peavey bass guitar for trade.

I'm hoping Jim won't mind my chiming in, but I had a chance to review his horns in person a few weeks back and give a few a toot (much to the dismay of my wife and kids waiting not-so-patiently in the car). The Bundy Special alto is in very good condition and plays well. Had I not held off and "fallen into" a modern JK for a good price, I would have gone back to Jim for this horn.
