In an effort to try to make life less complicated for our membership, I'd like to do the following:

* Create a new category called Music and Media
* Throw the following existing forums in there:

Sax Websites, Books, Magazines and other Literature.
Composer/Composition
Sheet Music
Notation Software, Midi, Etc.
SOTW Member Recordings and Reviews
Transcriptions
Possibly Brand Name Players (obstensibly, this section is for you to talk about "famous" folks and their doings. Yes, the Kenny G threads are supposed to go in here).

* Create a new forum called, "Recordings and TV/Movies" (subtitled with "CD's, DVD's, LP's, Cassettes, etc."). This is due to the proliferation of threads that deal with these subjects. I'm actually suprised we didn't make one of these sections earlier. I'm a-gonna create this forum anyway, because it's needed. It's just where it will be is the question.
* Combine Sheet Music with Transcriptions or Composer/Composition. This is because, while we had lotsa posts in favor of having a seperate Transcriptions topic, we've got all of 9 threads in there -- several I moved in there myself.

It'll be awhile before I'd do any of this. I just wanted to see what people felt like.

--------

Quickie definition: a vBulletin "category" is like "General Discussion". It's just a container and it contains "forums", like "Misc. Saxophone Discussion". A "forum" is a container that contains "threads", like "Repeated Threads". A "thread" is a container that contains "posts" ... like what I'm currently typing.

So much for your semi-retirement, huh?

Well, as I said, it may be awhile before I actually do this. Of course, I could also ask one of the other SOTW "staff" to do this for me.

My overall "philosophy" of working on SOTW is, "If I make this website nice, it can only make my own website better." That's generally why I hang around. Not to mention that I get to play with all these kewl pieces of software (looks REALLY L337 on the resume, don'tcha know. :))

Anyhow, I do have a couple other projects that have been languishing, so I really want to address those before embarking on another SOTW project.
