I liked that smiley, now it's gone....
Where'd it go?
:?
:brush:
Smiley #86. Code is ": brush :" (minus the spaces and quotes).
If you're posting a message, click the "More" link in the Smilies pane.
I removed all the animated smilies from the "main" page.
Yes, I can add more Smilies to the database if we really want them. Make 'em under 5K, please.
(Edit: corrected speling eror.)

Here are a few Smilies from another forum I belong to, that I'd like to suggest for addition to our list. Subject to moderator approval, of course!
I'm especially fond of an animated 'rolling eyes' smiley. We don't have an animated one now...
:dazed: :dazed:
We've got the server space for more, so I'll install these sometime this week.
Remember: if we start havening bandwidth issues again, smilies will go, too.

Remember: if we start havening bandwidth issues again, smilies will go, too.Hmmm...does linking to images from my photobucket.com account affect said "bandwidth issues"?
I would think not...so maybe I'll just store the smilies that I like there, and link to them. Is there a downside to that?
>> Linking ...
The downside is that when the the file's gone, so is the image in the post.
If I upload the smiley, it's here for all your fellow SOTW'ers to admire and use for all eternity (or until we stop using the WWW).
Some websites als will not allow you to "hotlink" their graphics. If you try to do that, you either get the standard "broken picture" symbol or a graphic that says something like, "Hotlinking files is EVIL."

They allow direct-linking. In fact, that's why the site exists. Here's the first paragraph from their "About Photobucket" page:
"Photobucket.com is a free, simple, fast, reliable image hosting and and online photo album site that allows direct linking and photo sharing. With the increasing number of digital cameras, camera phones, auction sites, message boards, classifieds, live journals, blogs and photo albums, Image Hosting is becoming very popular. Most photo sites are banning direct linking, but not us! At photobucket.com, you can easily upload and store photos online, and then direct link them to any site on the internet."

Photobucket's cool, that's why I shoot'em a 5-spot every once in a while.
