I have an Adolph Sax alto.
Model No. 284
Serial No. 6325C
Can you help me identify the year of manufacture?
Trev
Sounds like you may have a Selmer-made instrument or an AE Sax horn (i.e. the inventor's son). Check out www.saxpics.com/selmer/sax.htm and compare them to http://www.saxpics.com/sax/
Serial number charts linked off those pages.

Hi Trev.
I was searching info about Lyrist
and came upon your question.
Your Sax has been built in the Selmerfactory just
after the official take-over by Selmer from Adolphe Sax Jr.
284 is the serial number on the bell which dates it to 1928 or 1929
(I have to check) The other sr. nr. is from Selmer. (below low D-key)
Those are to my opinion the best instruments ever built and still are.
I have the 125 alto and 1002 tenor ao. You still own it?
And do you also play it?
All the best,
Arthur
