Gnawing on embouchure?

I have this really bad habit of chewing on the sides of my mouth... Kind of like how puppies love expensive shoes... :o

I don't really know much about trumpets, so I was wondering: would my chewing on the sides of my mouth have a really bad effect on me learning trumpet?

I used to chew on the sides of my mouth but as soon as I started playing winds it went away. I don't think it would present much of a problem as long as it was just the skin and not too much!

I have that same habit too, except I like to chew on the sides of my lower lip, especially when involved with something other than instrument playing. Just make yourself stop if you keep doing it.
