saxpics EDIT: edited this to make it a poll and changed the title to make it a little more eye-catching.

... because ZeuS dealers were posting :spam1: all over the place and we wanted to corral them someplace.

I haven't seen too many posts about the P. Mauriat horns, although I've really not been looking for 'em, though.

Tell ya whut. When we move to the new provider (immanently) and get the new Forum software (soon) -- and thus the search engine gets fixed -- I'll see how many threads there currently are on these horns. If thre are quite a few, I'll definitely make the new area.

OK. Here's my update: y'all only have six threads specifically about these horns.

I'm poll-izing this thread. Let's see the results after a couple days!

Sorry, I posted my request in the wrong area. 2 demerits for me....

I think we'll start to see much more talk of these horns. For all of us that have played them so far, they are breath of fresh air in the form of a great, fat sounding horn with a reasonable price tag.

Tim at Sax Alley is hot for them, as is Junkdude. I put one on law-away 10 minutes after I picked it up.

Oooh. I've edited it so I can do 100 reputation points at a time :).

I really have no opinion either way on a section for these horns. I just would rather see a few more threads specifically about them.

I would say the interest most definitely warrants a section.
Plus, two reputable dealers are selling them and they are not an in house brand.

So we have any in-house brands sections? 8-)

Y'know, I was cleaning up some threads in the Suggestion Box and was thinking, "Hmm. I can see a point in creating a Guardala section, but hasn't he used three different manufacturers?"

Maybe a "House Brand" area would be good, but a) that's a topic for another thread and b) I'd probably be more interested in who actually makes the horn rather than the brand.

Just my opinion. I'll give you some points for that. Got a special this week ...

Pete, finding out who actually produces those in-house brands and publishing those little factoids would probably bring some instrument companies screaming....

I already know a few of the "secrets" but can't spill the beans....

Is the issue one of quantity of replies or quality of product?

If a great sounding sax at a reasonable price has come on the market, then this potentially could be of interest to every player. To date the threads have been very positive, but, as saxpics notes, there only have been a few relative to other areas. However, given the highly positive reviews to date, it would be worthwhile to create a separate area for these saxes in order to obtain a broader and deeper survey of opinions.

If I don't see that there are a lot of posts regarding a certian brand, that really doesn't convince me to want to go through the effort of creating a specific area. I also don't want to create sections that have only one or two threads in them.

I don't mind a little niche, but an area with only one thread is a bit ridiculous.

Now, considering I'm getting a degree of support regarding my intense pruning (http://www.saxontheweb.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=21549) of some areas, it's becoming more of a good idea to create a specific area for this brand. I also haven't really had a chance to look in the Misc. Saxophone Manufacturers area recently; I just searched on the Mauriat horns.

Created. I thought y'all had more threads than that ...

I say do some serious houscleaning. Many of these topics come up and blow over and there's no need to micromanage the topic areas. I get nosebleed just wading through all the subdivisions.

Reduce, for example, the Instrument brand area to:
Selmer
Yamaha
Keilwerth
Yanagisawa
All others

Or the mouthpiece area to:
alto
Tenor
all others

Thanks saxpics. Didn't mean to put you to any additional work especially considering the heroic and invaluable work you've put into this Forum, once again.

But, thanks for the section. Let's see how it goes.
