I have just completed a big project some of you who play in community bands may be interested in.

Last summer as a guest artist with a nearby community band we perfromed Let Freedom Ring, by Kay Seamayer. Ms. Seamayer was the featured vocalist. Conductor Raul Prado had arranged her song for concert band. Also, choral backup, too.

The chart was in pencil on staff paper.

I have just finished putting this piece into notation, editing, printing scores and parts.

Kay is a fine musician, and performed several times a week, singing, playing piano. She also plays French Horn and other brass. And she sings some mean Texas Swing, too! I cannot tell you how pleasurable it was to work with a songwriter that when you asked, "Did you want an Abm there, or an Abm7?" that they did not look at you with that confused look. This lady is a musician!

Kay told me that Andre Previn had heard the Philladelphia Boys Choir perform this piece, and wants to do it with orchestra. Back to work, I did string parts, added them to the score, adapted the score to orchestra.

The whole thing is ready now. It is a great patriotic piece that is perfect for July 4th or Memorial Day performances. You may hear Kay sing the studio version here:

If interested in such a piece for your band, please contact Ms. Seamayer through her website.
