Hi alll!
I play a yana 880 (silverplate) as a second (I mainly play alto) and is kind of stuck in what I feel like a dead end. Especially since I have started to use it in the big band it feels like I can't get it further, or it can't get me further, if you see what I mean. *<:-)
The mouthpiece I use is a Vandoren s15, which I guess is not hrmm dedicated to the big band situation, so next time I venture into some larger city I will try some other mpcs after your nice suggestions from other threads. Will this do or should I perhaps start looking for a new horn as well?

Has anyone else been in the same (confused) situation? And been able to leave it?

I'm quite an experienced player, both classic and jazz, but not pro. My other horns are Selmer SA2 alto, and Buffet Prestige tenor. The tenor will need a couple of more month before I take it to the public, though, due to intonation issues (read 'poor chops' ;-).

Inputs, please? :-)

Unless you are looking for an excuse to buy a new horn, your's is just fine.

Make sure it is free of leaks and then start spending some quality time with it. Long tones practiced with an open throat will help get it singing.

Gange: I agree with Dr G. I'd seriously explore mouthpiece set-ups, too. That horn of yours should play great. DAVE
