sam_2d: There is a world of difference between vintage Bueschers and today's Taiwanese Bueschers. Much has been posted lately about the new Bueschers - for a cheapie, some posters like them.
I saw one a year or so ago at Sam Ash in Canoga Park, CA (a soprano) and it was the worst looking new horn I'd ever seen. It had tool marks and unpolished surfaces everywhere. I didn't even bother to play it.
I own three True-Tones (an alto and two straight sops) and have owned others. They are magnificent players and well-made examples of Americana at the pinnacle of American manufacturing and design.
My TTs are first-choice from among all of my horns (Selmer, Yanagisawa, Conn, and Rampone) for any serious work. Many of us think there is nothing better than a vintage Buescher.
I would advise anyone to NOT buy a saxophone (especially a soprano) on the cheap. You will only end up upgrading after becoming disappointed. Thus, you will have spent more than you should have (an upgrade plus the piece of junk you bought originally). Do it right the first time and enjoy a good horn. For the price of a solid vintage Buescher or Conn, you can hardly go wrong.
Others will disagree. DAVE

Check out the selection at www.vintagesax.com
Excellent selection, great prices and many of the horns look practically new after Gayle works on them. She's a great person to deal with, and has extensive practical experience with Buescher saxes.

You just missed and early true tone that I traded to a music shop. I would have loved to have the guarantee that a player would get it. Oh well

When did you sell it and where. I picked up a 1923 Buescher Trutone at Nashville Used Music. I traded a Cannonball Royal Crown for it. I hated the Cannonball. I fell in love with the Buescher when I first picked it up to check it out. I wasn't interested in any of the others they had, after picking up the Buescher. I almost bought without playing it first. I could hit the altissimo on certain days of the week on the Cannonball. I'm having about the same luck with the Buescher. It has no front F. Does anyone know an E3 fingering with out a front F?

Hey I own a BU3 and I will tell you I realy love it. I have played selmer and Yanagisawa sopranos and the BU3 plays and sounds the same. The only problem is that is only has 1 neck but it comes with High F#. So I would recomend to anyone to buy it.
