Anybody else doing this? I read about using tenor reeds on alto on the old forum, and in a fit of frustration one day tried this on my 6M with amazing results. Gives the sound so much more depth and resonance. The full setup is Runyon HR Custom 8, Fibracell tenor MS, Bonade inverted clarinet lig, '57 Conn 6M. I know it sounds sort of Frankenstein-like, but it really does the job. Will I ever be able to use alto reeds again?

Are there any parts off of a trumpet you could use?

I've tried it, the old alto has been in the closet for many years and with now alto reeds, I slapped on a tenor fibracell. Horn needs a repad desperately, but I don't play it so it will waituntil one of the kids shows an interest. It worked fine (as well as could be expected given the state of the horn), then again I often play baritone reeds on tenor ;-)
altissimo is a bit different, since more of the bigger reed is softer, but I usually play a strength or so harder in baritone reeds than tenor.
