I've recently started playing a Guardala studio which I'm enjoying very much.
For those of you not familiar with this piece, it is of the narrow body, small chamber, high baffle type (not unlike a dukoff d chamber)
I have noticed that this piece does require a somewhat different approach - for me that is  I find that I need to loosen my whole embochure and play in more of a fixed position than with a large chamber, low baffle link where I'm a little firmer and do roll my lip in and out a little for high and low register (as suggested in Dave Liebmans book).
Of more concern to me is that when I really push this piece in the high register, I have a tendency to squeak (using V16 3 reed). I know its not the reed of the piece - thinks its just my tendency to pinch up just a little up there. This is weird for me, because I've never squeaked a day in my life!
Have any of you had a similar experience migrating to this type of piece? I'm going to spend some more time on upper register long tones ppp->FFF-->ppp and hope this comes right quickly.
stay cool
