You blokes have to check one of these out. Mine arrived today, whacked it onto the Martin Comm II alto and voila instant huge big powerful and authoritive sound. It feel and plays like the JJ#9 Blue number I have here but with more of everything, more depth, more power, big centred sound and a wide range of dynamic expression.
A JJ#9 with a RJS 3S is a very easy blowing combo!!!

I loved my ESP alto 90 piece so much I had to try a tenor piece. I started on a 110 but after Jody sent me a 120 to compare it was no going back to the 110.
Jody's a fantastic person to work with. He will do beyond what is expected when it comes to customer service. If it fits within your budget, you should give these pieces a try.

Unless Bootman has another of these squirrelled away somewhere (entirely possible), I'm the second owner of the very same ESP 0.090"alto mpc. And this thing is the real deal, I couldn't be happier with it.
I was getting ready to sell my Cannonball "Silver Sonic style" alto because I was suddenly hating my sound with the stock mpc, which otherwise has always seemed to be a very decent Meyer blank. With the ESP, this horn is no longer for sale. With RJS 2H, it is so easy blowing that I'm tempted to try a 3S to see if I can get more out of it. Intonation is very centered throughout the keyed range (I am no whiz in the altissimo department), no "gum chewing" required. A wide dynamic range is available in all registers. The basic sound is bright but full, not piercing but with excellent projection.
I've used the setup in church and in pit orchestra. Not sure if I'd recommend it for concert band.... I haven't tried the mpc with spoiler yet, but I already know it will work well since I tried an ESP 0.083" both without and with spoiler at the Sax Congress. Jody insisted that I try the mpc with the spoiler, and I was not disappointed. It was amazing how much more projection the sound had with the spoiler, without losing any playability whatsoever.
You guys have got to get one of these. It gives the lie to the idea that it is somehow bad to use a metal mpc on alto. Or so it seems to me. :) I admit that the price is rather steep, but if you can afford it, I doubt very much that you'll be disappointed. Or you can be a cheapskate like me and wait for a used one to show up. 8)
