I finally got the director to let me take home a sax. I took everybody's advice and got a school horn that was in great condition, if fact, it had just been returned from the repair shops. I finally got through the beginner book that I had been working on. And now I need some sheet music to continue on. Is there anyone out there who can hook me up with some sheet music?

Thank you in advance.

You can get some from www.sibeliusmusic.com

You can also download MIDI files and use a notation program to print out the music (and by deleting the lead you can then play along with the song!)

MIDI files are much easier to get than sheet music files.

There was someone a few months back, selling volumes I,II, & III of the Real Book(you know, the first one, "illegal", etc.)on a CD on e-bay, for about $12.00, I believe. He used Adobe Acrobat for the reader - nice and clean! It was the "C"versions, though. I keep hoping someone will do the same with Bb versions.

All of the fake books I've seen and own are in concert key, since piano and bass players can use them, and horn players are expected to know how to sight-transpose.

I get my fake books in C also, for that same reason - to have and copy for the piano, guitar, etc., player and bass player. I usually don't transpose them by sight, but will do it by hand and then keep my own book(get's me by until I've memorized the tunes); also, if you have Band In A Box or similar they have that handy-dandy pull-down tab where you can transpose a tune to any key you want, and then print of course. Yeah, well anyway, I don't know if that guy still sells those, but it is a nice product for a cheap price. There's also someone who had the 3 volumes of the( Legal)Real Book...but the Reader is Irfan Viewer - is a free downloadable tho.

I guess it would be too much to ask to get bass players to transpose?
