Hi,
I am looking into this soprano advertised in a local classifieds journal. It is an EM Winston, no dents, not scratches, looks brand new, played max of 10 times by owener. It has two necks. This is my first experience with EM WInston, are they a solid horn? Junk? Inbetween? I would really love some info on how this horn performs, shes asking 800 but I think I could get it for 500. Thanks everyone. JOHN DAGGETT

Coupla' questions...

Why played only 10 times? Possibly wasn't too happy with it.

$800 down to $500? Hmmm sounds like she's wanting to unload it.

$500 would be OK for a new horn, $800 is WAY out of line. Winston is an OK entry-level horn with mixed opinions of it's caliber.

I just bought an Antigua from Kesslers and couldn't be happier. I suggest you spend a little more and look at the Antiguas. A quick search of SOTW will confirm that the majority would agree.

$.02 worth

I concur with sax rookie...

Antiguas are about as good as the real thing. My experience with Winstons has not been good.

If you are gonna pay that much, then go with Antigua. I have a Winston that I got off of Ebay. It is okay, but I would not shell out that much money for one. Personally, I'd drop mine off for $175 if someone would want it. I had the itch and that was all I could afford (I'm a tenor player and thought the soprano would be a neat "extra").
