I have a Lyrist alto in silver plate finish. I am trying to find out who manufactured this and to get an idea of the year of manufacture. It has Lyrist (with a lyre image running through the name) with MARQUE DEPOSEE underneath and 9 Place du Combat, Paris engraved. There does not appear to be a serial number. It has front alternate top F fitted and is a low Bb horn. It also has alternate Eb small key fitted on top of bottom right hand D key and a G# trill key fitted between F and E right hand keys. Apart from this all keys are the same as any modern sax. Left hand pinky keypad is very simular to my buescher sax and different to my selmer mk vii.

I would be grateful for any information that anyone can give me. I also wondered whether or not it was a pro horn.

Dave Dix,

The only Lyrist sax that I have seen was a Pierret stencil of the '30. Pierret and Lyrist was used by the "Musique de la Garde Républicaine" in Paris - France which was (is) a high level military orchestra. So, some of them are pro model.

I do see some resembolence to my lyrist but still unable to find a rough year of manufacture or any place for its serial number unless they didn't bother serialising them
