King Alto circa 1918

I have a king alto (silver) circa 1918. Plays ok but I am no pro and wouldnt know if it was a real nice one.

Does anybody know if this is a good horn?

Was your horn manufactured in 1918, or is that the patent date? What is your Serial #?

I do not own a King Alto (although I have been tempted), but have a King Soprano from 1926 that I wouldn't trade for any horn I've tried to date (including a couple Selmers). There are no intonation issues at all, and it has a good substantive sound presence. I also like the keywork (although those used to modern saxes might disagree).

No one seems to ever brag about owning pre-Zephyr Kings, but I suspect they may just be "undiscovered" at this point.
