Very serious- Teddy was an innonvator.THE REAL DEAL.
I loved Teddys sound and his ideas.I play his tune "Sunset Eyes"
a lot on gigs. It's one of my favs.
NOBODY....nobody had his on the beat yet kinda backbeat time feel.
I'll miss him.Thank god I got a chance to play a bit with him.He was very cool and a big influence on my thinking.
God bless him.Sad, very sad

What a loss. What a legacy. I got turned on to Teddy Edwards when the local FM jazz station played some of his recordings. Since then I've sought out tracks he made with bassman Leroy Vinnegar (also recently departed). Yes, "Sunset Eyes" is great. Thanks, Mr. Edwards, for telling it like it is.

Another great, gone...

I've been listening to "Horn to Horn" (Teddy Edwards and Houston Person) all day long for the last two weeks. What talent and taste...

Hug 'em while you can, we all pass much too soon.

Got to see Teddy play last summer at the Stanford Jazz Workshop in a 150 seat recital auditorium with a great trio behind. He was spectacular!! sure glad I got to go to that one!!!

Currently digging Teddy tearin' it up on the Howard McGhee Dial sessions. "Up in Dodo's Room" ... very speech-like, a bit more edge than Lucky Thompson.
Yeah.
"Dilated Pupils", "Midnight at Minton's" ...

A big thanks to 2 Giant recent losses: Dodo Marmarosa & Teddy Edwards
