View Full Version : How a Buescher Bass Got away from me

I had a chance to pickup a mint Buescher Bass for $5400 last week. The jazz band I'm a part of was excited because I'd have it ready for our big concert in June. I was even creating the sheet music for the numbers we would be playing. There was also a gold Buescher clarinet in the deal.

I'm so bummed. You see, Eric Kloss is going to solo with our band (http://www.woodinvilleband.org/) if he and my director can work out the specifics. I looked around for a loaner bass sax and haven't had much luck. I think this instrument would have added interest to our sax-heavy band.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

First of all, we'd like to hear the story behind the loss...

Please tell us your story.
Evidently we had a bass sax in our school years back before the band director sold it. :crybaby:

Hmm... this is over 18 months old. The short story is the band was considering loaning me some of the money to buy this monster, but they didn't have any budget left after purchasing some other equipment. I'm still on my bass sax quest, albeit it on a tight budget. Maybe in a couple of years it will work out.

I did play an old no-name bass sax last year. The price was right, but after it came out of the shop, only four or five notes would sound. And it was very ugly so I took a pass on it.

On the good side Eric Kloss played a killer version of the Star Spangled Banner to start out our concert. You live for moments like that. I wonder where he ended up.
