I'm thinking about purchasing a brand new YTS-62II. I have a few questions.

Are these horns good enough for most college settings? How is the intonation, and does the G1 neck problem occur on this style horn? How about set-ups? Do they need to be maintained when I order them to be in good working order? If so......is there a reputable dealer who does this before shipping their horns? Pro-winds or WoodwindsNBrass maybe?

How is the tonal core of these instruments compared to the other pro-model horns? I want a good professional tenor saxophone....but I don't want to give up sound for price.....

Any suggestions/opinions?

Can you playtest it before buying? This will answer your questions rg. the sound. In general, in terms of mechanics and maintenance, the Yamaha 62s are well-built and can keep up to any pro-horn.

Just check it with a tuner before purchasing. As mention ad nauseum on this board, Yamaha is having production problems with the new G1 neck that is affecting intonation, especially in the upper register.

To be honest, I would have given anything to get back the old 62 I had back in the 80s. It was a killer horn. I ended up opting for a JK.
