dont know if this is the right section of the board but any way....
i have heard many things about michael brecker injuring his neck in the early 80's. Does anyone happen to know the story? thanks
I dont know the details but I think its kind of like Gilespie Cheeks. Its Prolapsed or something like that from heavy use and weak muscles. I have been told that this is one of the primary reasons for the use of the famous Brecker MPC. It is wide open, free blowing and does not strain the injury so much, not simply that its his mpc of choice for tone. Thats the story I got.
I have met and spoke with him a couple of times...
He Has a HUGE scar horizontally across his neck where they operated...
I am just thankful that it didn't end up inhibiting his masterful playing.
He is one of my (and many others) favorite players...
