Hi people,
Does anyone know where i can get the second part of sonny's solo in st thomas?
Hey Caniggia- I'd recommend this Tim Price book " Great Tenor Sax Solos". It's got 24 transcribed solos (including St. Thomas) and other greats such as:
Body and Soul (Coleman Hawkins), Lester Leaps In (Lester Young- 2 versions), Parker 51 (Stan Getz), Tune Up (Sonny Stitt), Bye Bye Blues (Lew Tabackin), I'm Old Fashioned (Peter Christlieb), Bye Bye Blackbird (John Coltrane). There are also a number of other solos from the artists above, and I think at least one from Pharoah. Great source, and Tim is not just a killer player, but is a fabulous human being to boot. Here is a link to the book on Amazon, but you also may wish to check sheetmusicplus.com or windmusicplus.com to see if they have it - http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/079353674X/qid=1084748088/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1__i1_xgl14/002-6563887-5783202?v=glance&s=books .
Here is a link to Tim's lessons page on SOTW - http://www.saxontheweb.net/Price/ , and finally a link to his website - http://timpricejazz.com/ . Hope it's not overload, but he is one of the greatest resources for the sax community. Best of luck - Jeff
