Can't get the palm key high F to speak on a my Kohlert tenor, it kind of gets chocked off before it can speak. All the pads are good and everything else is in good working order, and I otherwise love the sound of the horn. Just wondering if anyone else has encountered the problem and what can be done about it. My tech suggests it has something to do with the octave pip but he's reluctant to file the opening because it might screw up the tuning :? . any suggestions would be welcome.
thanks in advance!

When I had my Kohlert repadded and corked, I spent quite a bit of time with the technician making sure the opening made it speak correctly, it is possible that the cork is keeping the pad from getting off the tonehole far enough (or possibly allowing it to go too far from the tone hole). I'd check that first before you go fiddling with the octave key tone hole.
