I sent my horn to Sarge at www.worldwidesax.com . He tuned her up, replaced the low Eb pad, she plays PERFECTLY now. NO gurgle whatsoever, full strong bottom end that pops right out.

If you want that gurgle gone, send the sax to Sarge. He does top quality work and will make your horn SING.

I posted a similar post a few months back - at least as far as having a couple of 'closed' pads replaced. My repairer found the Selmer fitted pads lacked the usual membrane between the felt and leather and this was probably why they wouldn't seal properly. It took a lot of finding, though, because the 'leaks' didn't show up in the normal way of things. Several people 'poo-pooed' me, I am glad to see someone else found the same, though I'd have been gladder if my pro horn had decent pads in the first instance.....

Hey Singlereed, who is your repairer?

I live in Northants and can't seem to find anyone local. I've just bought a
Ref 54 Alto recently and I think it may need setting up properly.
Can you recommend anyone?

Thanks.....

Homer I can recommend my repairman who is superb and reasonable. He has looked after all of my Selmers and woodwinds for years and those of all of my associates. He is based near Newark and I regularly travel to his workshops. Email me if you're interested.
