I am looking for a mouthpiece to replace my medium chamber meyer 6, being played on a mark 6 alto. I find this mouthpiece much much too stuffy, although I like the sound. I am using v16 reeds, and am looking to find better reeds for it too.
Altissimo is also horrid on this mouthpiece. Any reccomendations as to what mouthpieces I should try? (I am still looking for the dark setup i get on the meyer, but more free blowing, better altissimo, thicker upper range, and more projection).
thanks.

You can consider sending that Meyer for a reface. I find most Meyers stuffy because of a bad facing from the factory. I have one with the side rails thinned out and it's much more free blowing and alive than it was unmodified.
If you absolutely want to buy another mouthpiece, try a Morgan or the Vandoren V16 series.

Give the Hite Artist alto pieces a try as well. I know some people get a very nice sound on these and they are not very expensive.

Getting your Meyer refaced would help you out a lot, but you may opt to hold on to it, as is. Try some other things out, then you'll still have your main mpc to compare it to. Afterwards, you could always send one of the mouthpieces out to be worked on, and then you'll have a great mpc! :D
I srtongly suggest checking out the Vandoren A28 - it's marketed as a "classical" mpc, but it's VERY versitile - I think it's one of the better mouthpieces being made today. The Morgan mouthpieces are also great, and Selmer has just started making Super Session's for alto - but I think they're only available in Europe until July or so.
Have fun!

JS: I bought my alto Super Session from WW&BW-Paris. I've been playing it for about a week (once in public, twice in rehearsals) and it is TERRIFIC. DAVE
