hi i am 22 years old tenor sax player from izmir/turkey.i ve been playing tenor for 12 years and i am using a Selmer SA80 II for 5 years. We dont have any music shops around in which i can buy or test a new mouthpiece.Thats why i ve been using selmer jazz metal F (.90) which came with sax.I feel that its time to change this mouthpiece and try a new one.I was thinking of a vintage otto link but they are too expensive for me.So i ll have to buy a new otto link from music123.com(thats the only place i know). In here we dont have any masters who can work on a new mouthpiece and as i havent tried another jazz mouthpiece before i need some advice(and luck).I just want to choose perfect option with my limited budget.A new guardala, metal otto link or hr otto link? what should be the tip opening?
I need a darker jazz sound but will it be too hard for me if i choose 8* or 9 after selmer 0.90 ? sound in my mind is mixture of b. marsalis-ricky ford and coltrane with a modern expression.i hope i could describe it.
i ll be glad if you help me with your advices.
