For those of you from Montreal with nothing to do on New Year's Eve and/or for those of you who happen to be in the Montreal region for New Year's eve:

There's going to be a free show and free entertainment at the Montreal Casino starting around 8pm up until 1 or 2 am. On the menu: parades (featuring my Brass Band), Dixie Land music, everything "down South" kind of atmosphere. Big show right before Midnight (w/ traditional countdown) Over 20 musicians in total.

Please note: I hesitated before posting this because I realize this is at the casino. You must be 18 yrs or older to get in at the casino. Also I don't want to encourage anyone to gamble but there are restaurants at the casino where the food is excellent - My recommendation: Restaurant "La Bonne Carte" (on the 5th floor) has an all you can eat buffet for 19$CDN and you MUST try the salmon.

:occasion:

Remember, folks, $19CDN is, like, 10¢ US!

Sorry that I can't be there, Kim!

Sounds good, Kim, wish I could be there. [Specially if you were gonna dressup in the chicken outfit.]

Aren't we exagerating a little bit, Pete??

No. I won't be wearing the chicken outfit... I'll be wearing this:

... and you said you didn't want me to post that picture! You took away all the fun!

==========

OK. Let's actually go to http://www.xe.com/ucc/ and find out. Hmm. 21,000,000 Turkish Lira. That sounds a bit steep when I put it that way ...

Ok, ok, ok. All right, already! It's, like, $15 US! That still ain't bad!

That's a coincidence. Totally. I swear.

Yup

I posted the chicken picture after a fellow bandmate who saw it threatened to post it here. So I beat him to it 8-)

Given the hue of the hallway, dinner is probably something like "Chicken, Duck or Goose a'lorange" - Bonne année; Merveilleus por tous!

Honk if you hear a message.

Oh yeah, that picture (above) was taken at "Palais des Congrès de Montréal" (Montreal's Congress Hall) I dunno who the architect/interior decorator is, but he/she's got an awesome sense for bad taste :)

Actually - the Hall is pretty stylish - if it was designed for the 1967 Expo? I enjoy watching my parent's home movies from the expo. The hairstyles, clothing, and exhibits of 'futuristic expectations' are great kitsch. Pretty neat to see how some of the buildings are still in use when my wife and I were up for the races a couple of years ago... Montreal is my favorite city in North America (in the summertime :D ) ... so far.

You must be mistaken, "Palais des Congrès" is ON the island of Montreal. The Expo67 exhibits are located on Sainte-Hélène island which, is an artificial island that was builded for the purpose of Expo67.

Pretty much what's left of Expo67 are the permanent exhibits. Among others, the France exhibit which is now the casino. And of course my favorite; the USA exhibit which, I love it when American tourists ask us: "What is that big round thing??" ... I dunno, you tell me.

Actually mis-wrote the posting. Meant if it was designed at the same time as Expo '67... Guess I shouldn't post while I work  .

Ah. Sorry. I think I miss-read. That's a good question though. I have no idea when the "Palais des Congrès" was builted. It's a fairly recent building and it was renovated/expanded lately.
