well, i did it! i bought a yamaha yss875. i figured i would find out first hand what the difference in playability was between the two. as you might recall i had already bought a yss475.
in appearance, the main difference seems to be the machine marks on the keys of the 475 and lack of engraving.
to be quite honest, i dont hear a lot of difference in the sound, even with the different necks on the 875.
unfortunately, i think i have bought a big buck 475. well back to the testing. i cant see a reason to keep both, so i guess the 475 will go.
the factory mouthpiece on the 475, was a 4c, so i replaced it with a semer s-80,D. the factory mouthpiece on the 875 just says yamaha on it. it plays better than the other two.
any ideas on what it might be?

I'm guessing it would be a Custom HR mpc.

Werewulf: I will be in the market for a soprano sax, and I play tested a 475 at the local music store, and found it to be a decent horn with pretty good intonation, and I will be needing one for the upcoming NASA conference in Arkansas. how much are you willing to let yours go for? my email is lefty_fencer@yahoo.com
