Anybody know anything about late Aristocrats, SN #5XX,XXX?

1) I'm sure you'll say these aren't as good as the early Aristocrats, but how do they stack up against current-day student/junk horns

and

2) I've also heard it said that EARLY Bundy's and Signets were decent, undervalued horns.

So where does the Selmer-owned Buescher-produced Aristocrat fit in? When was it made, late 60s? Early 70s?

:?

I play a post-Selmer Aristocrat. Works for me. Does everything I want it to do. You would find these to be more solidly made than modern student horns, with a deep rich tone as well. Try one in good adjustment. You'll be pleasently surprised. These are undervalued. BTW, Bundys from the 50s to the 70s that you come across are likely Bueschers.

Yeah, I've got one as well as my back-up horn, and it's a great instrument. It sounds really nice. I like it a lot.

My first horn in 7th grade was a Bundy 68,xxx that I bought from a university student who was upgrading . After it being my only horn for 20 some years, I traded it in to get a "modern" horn with modern keywork(read cheap import). That one lasted a year before I replaced with a Yani. Man, do I want that Bundy back! It had the most lush sound!

This was a step up as well... all lacquer, blue steel springs, engraved and even intonation up and down. It whispered and roared. Definitely not what the Bundy became. It was a 'phantom' horn as not many (including me) knew its history and background.

I'm searching....

I bought, a few months ago, a 1963 Bundy Alto, repadded and messed around with Mp and reeds until I got it right. I had primarily been a tenor player, but since restarting the Alto has got a work out....and plays ourstandingly well...and I am comparing to alto's I hear on fine jazz recordings. I have been told, here that it is probably a Beuscher Aristocrate.

The tenor I picked up is a Beuscher stencil, Werlitzer, low tone...if the seral number is any good...it seems to be a 1918 model. I am sending it off for an overhall. I was thinking maybe it would be worthwhile to keep an eye out for a Bundy Tenor, 60 to 70s...on the hope that they turn out to be as good as this alto.

Concerning the Stencil tenor, a heavy horn, 45xxx, what would be a mp that would brighten and add to projection and not lose the natural flavor of the instrument? Or is that impossible? I have a 5star link....I might find it works well when it returns...or maybe not...any thing particular I should be made aware of on a horn that old?
