Heres a question for ya. Have you ever had to carry a bari sax case, a c-mel, and maybe an alto sax and then try to switch them out in a performance? Not fun or easy when you have to move quickly between songs, as some of you may be aware. Kinda makes me feel like a camel with out the humps and less spit. So heres the real question. I have no sax stands and the cases tend to get in the way and since they're not really meant to have an assembled Sax sitting in them there is always the possibility of having the case chomp(Close) on you Sax. I need a good stand that I can use for my Sax's. I'm looking for a cheap portable/compact, sturdy and stable stand. I can live with a single double but I have been having trouble finding one that can support an alto, ten and or bari. If not then an double with a bari stand with the same specs already mentioned. Any help would be great....

 whoa to much caffine... that or it was too sour....

I have a stand for alto/tenor and a bari. I'm lookin' for a decent bari/tenor/alto stand that doesn't take a truck to carry around.

Belmonte makes some nice stands. Take a look at this one for four instruments: http://www.grothmusic.com/cgi-local/SoftCart.exe/online-store/scstore/p-6204BK.html?E+scstore for $35.

This link shows some innovative sax stands http://www.saxophones.co.uk/acatalog/saxophones_co_uk_Sax_stands__music_stands__lyres__ _music_light_26.html at reasonable prices.

Good luck wit dat.

I have a Beechler bari stand and a Beechler double stand. They're both nice, and the legs of the bari stand are just tall enough to straddle the legs of the combo stand so that they make a very compact arrangement for three horns.

I use the combo stand for alto and C-melody, with the bari in the middle - works great.

How much did the beechler stands cost?

Shoot, I don't remember and it wasn't even that long ago. They're definitely not the cheapest stands around, but they're nice and sturdy. I'd ordered some of the run-of-the-mill stands and sent them back, just too cheesy to imagine hanging so many thousands of dollars worth of saxes on.

Someone else here on the forum had mentioned a good supplier, I'll see if I can remember or find something....

What kind of padding does the stand have? It was hard to see in the pics I found....

The padding is something like a silicone rubber tubing over steel bar-stock. If anything, the bari stand's U is almost too stiff. Hard to bend to fit your bell size. Very sturdy, in any case.

Interstate Music, I believe, is where I bought mine.
