Hey everyone! I have a Selmer SA80 alto, and I would like to play smooth jazz on it. What mouthpiece would I need? I was looking at some metal ones, but I have no idea what to look for. The horn produces a rich dark sound with the rubber mouthpiece, but I'd like something louder with a nice tone as well. I want it to sound like Dave Koz is playing- Thanks for your help!

Morry: Very good . . . there is truth in your humor. Trying to play/sound like a favorite player is more attitude than equipment. DAVE

dave could sound like dave with a jupiter sax and a yamaha 4c mouthpiece.

its the shape of the mouth and throat that make the diff, not equip.

anyways, ill just wrtie this quote of what Ravel told Gershwin when he was his teacher :"why try to compose like me and be a second rate Ravel when you could be a first rate Gershwin"

what i mean, is dont try to sound like koz, koz exists, we dont need 75 of him, it would lose appeal, be yourself.

as for a good mouthpiece, ive always liked my beechler plastic and otto link metal on my selmer seriesII
