Which speaker you use at home for practice, play-along & transcribed solo (assume you use it with your computer)? Good quality, enough volume Need brand name, model & what market price.

I use different speakers for various tasks.

As far as transcribing goes, most of my transcription work is done on headphones. 'Phones get the music right inside my head, and let me pick out detail. (Most of the transcription work I do is full big band, sometimes orchestra.)

For that I have a set of Sony MDR V-900 phones. (At least I'm pretty sure that's the model.)

Thanks. I also use a Song headphone when doing transcribed solo (if very easy song, no need).

So, what about the speaker? Need a good speaker for play-along. Many computer speaker just too small, volume is not enough and resolution is also not good. Necessary to have a sub-woofer? But I don't use it to play PC game, mainly listen to song and play-along.

Any suggestion?

I only use playalongs with my regular stereo system.

If you're using the computer, say with BIAB, consider running a line out from your sound card to a stereo receiver. Plug it into a tape input. DON'T use a phono input.

I use headphones also. I transcribe horn and back-up vocals from pop tunes. I like the Beyerdynamic DT75 headphones. They have a good dynamic range. I've also found that an MP3 recording is about the best and cleanest delivery one can find.
