My friend is interested in buying a piccolo to replace her old piccolo (which is slightly broken)...
She expressed interest in the YPC-62.. does anybody here have any experience with that piccolo?

Of all the models of piccolo available, this is probably the most universally regarded as outstanding value for money.
It plays well. It is very well designed and manufactured. Its tuning is good. It is very reliable, and it is easy to service.
It was Yamaha's top professional model for quite some time, and is good enough to remain still as a current model.
I've been very happy with mine for a long time.

Second the last post. The YPC 62 is a very good picc for the money. There are sometimes good deals for this piccolo on eBay - both new and used. A used one in good shape would be worth considering.

I have owned my YPC - 62 since 1979! It has been brilliant, lovely warm sound, reliable and good intonation - in fact I am about to take it for its first full overhaul in all that time! Not that it desperately needs one but thought that after 30 years it wouldn't hurt! Go for it, well worth it!

After nearly 5 years, I doubt anyone remembers what this was about!

I own a YPC62 and play on it regularly. I am a repairman and an amatuer player. I own and have owned Armstrong, Gemeinhardt, Haynes, Artley and other brands of piccolos. I bought it used and rebuilt it. It is the easiest of all my piccolos for me to play.
I recently bought a YPC61 piccolo that I am in the process of rebuilding. I will likely be selling this one, unless my wife (also a flute piccolo player) likes it. She does not like my YPC 62.
