Just wondering, is Vita a good brand? I heard somewhere on this forum that its a division of Conn/Selmer, but im really doubtul of that. I think it also goes under the name of LeBlanc.

It would make a good Beginner horn, but one would need another one once they are ready to step up to something to last them a long time.

Soprano, alto tenor, bari? The Vito VSP baris are Yanagisawa 901s--excellent baris.

Ok, is there anything I can do to make it darker, other than the mouthpice itself? My friend's dad has one that he's willing to sell to me for a $1000 USD and I wouldn't mind buying it to use for marching season....

try a rovner lig, those will darken the sound considerably

ill be playing it with a Selmer Larry Teal mpc and a Rovner Dark lig. with Vandoren V16's. Is there a pad/resonator combo that'll help darken it? Maybe flat plasitc resonators instead of domed plastic?

Plastic resos would help, but i wouldnt bother with those for a vito. Just my two cents

I own and play a Vito alto which is made by Yamaha. IT is so close that the pads for a YAS 23 will fit. It has a nice sound and I don't find it any brighter than any other alto. Depends on what mouthpiece you use. I play side by side with a Selmer and we both use Meyer mouthpieces and we sound the same. Nice horn for the money.

Old Vito's are great. Johnny Hodges played one for a while. Eventually they became just student horns. They were identical to a Yamaha. They aren't made in Japan anymore. I think they are made in Taiwan. They are ok student horns and are no brighter than any other student horn. For 1000us dollars it better be one from the 50's or 60's.

I have a Vito Leblanc, and it's OK, I've been on it since a year after I started playing, which would mean I've had it for two years. It's reliable, but no good for Altissimo, it gets squeaky a lot too often.
