Who told?!
Actually I did check on this...there is no sterling bari, but I was also told that if I placed an order for one, they probably would give it a go.
I'm sure I'd have to mortgage the green tea farm, or at least sell my eldest into bondage to pay for the thing.....

You'd need to do some serious weight-lifting before playing a 4-hour gig with a sterling bari...

Does anyone know who makes the cases for the Medusa bari? The one I've seen is blue, and contured. Does B&S make the cases themselves? Or are do they use somebody else's?

blue and contoured sounds like the Winter sax cases. just a guess helen but go to WWBW and have a look at the Winter cases there.

For what it's worth...I recently bought an alto from baribri. Very pleasant experience, very nice sax, best of all it plays as described.

For what it's worth...I also bought an alto from baribri. Since different people can apparently have very different interpretations of the word "mint", I strongly recommend getting detailed pictures of this horn before purchasing. Caveat emptor.

Not to get into a shouting contest but I'd like to answer what I consider to be a ridiculous statement by Casualsax..about buyer beware!
First of all quite a number of players out there know me from gigging and from USA horn some years ago. On top of that my Ebay feedback is for over 200 transactions and a very high rating. I also have a good name within the SOTW community and any of those I have dealt with will tell you this also.
Unfortunately you cannot please everybody and in the case of Mr. Casual Sax, he bought an alto, a Series II that I had been using with the Nelson Riddle orch. and a few others, the horn was excellant and in wonderful condition, great player. He only paid around $1200.00 quite a bargain. If he had contacted me saying he was unhappy, I would have gladly taken it back but he never said anything for months!! Now he feels like accusing me of nonesense to sooth his idignity which is his own fault. If you buy something you don't care for just don't keep it, let somebody know. None of us are mindreaders!!! If you want to get an even bigger discount off of what you agreed to pay, don't wait months before ranting about what you percieve to be wrong with an item and I strongly disagree with you anyway but again, had you had the good business sense to get back to me within a week or so of the sale I would have gladly taken the sax back. You NEVER did. Now you want to bad mouth me, that's very sick.
Well I guess if you want to vent, just go for it, I doubt that it will have any affect on anything in my life having to do with anybody with an iota of intelligence anyway.

I was ranting? Insolence aside, I expect that baribri is largely a reasonable seller. At least, that is apparently the consensus from most other eBay users. I can judge only from my personal experience, and so I stand by my earlier allusion: some sellers such as baribri may have a substantially broader definition of the term "mint" than meets the expectations of many buyers.
I could make an attempt to correct the mistatements in the prior post, but that would take far too long (long ago, I decided to put that transaction "behind me", and forget about the related $-loss and insults I endured). Moreover, I am not claiming that my definition of Mint is better or worse than baribri's; it is merely stricter. And, finally, I should mention that there is a very good chance, given baribri's largely positive eBay feedback, his current horn is truly mint as described.

$1200 for a Selmer II alto that played well enough to play in the Nelson Riddle orchestra sounds like a good deal to me, whatever scratches it had on it.

For $1800 that wouldbe another story, I would expect one to look pretty good.
