View Full Version : Riff Releases His 1st CD
Hello Everyone!
It's been a long time coming but I've finally recorded some of my original music and put it out on CD. Most of you probably don't know my real name so here it is: Tom Pesciotta (that's pronounced Pa-shot'-ta). I figure I might as well tell you now since you won't find Riff used anywhere on my web site. You can visit me at Twin Jazz Productions (http://www.twinjazz.com), listen to a few samples of my CD, read my bio, an essay on Jazz, and of course buy my CD.
I hope you enjoy visiting my web site.

Riff;
Man, nice to finally be able to put a sound to the man behind the posts. I've read a lot of your posts over the last couple years especially over on the Selmer Forum, and have enjoyed the insightfull guidance you have provided through these forums.
Very nice compositions. I loved your Soprano tone and color on "Hope"
I think what impressed me the most about the samples, is that the playing was pure. You didn't try and dazzle the listener with lines and lines of notes and patterns. You played from the heart solos, based on simple ideas and concepts, and tried to make a statement with your phrases, that the listener could relate to. I thoroughly enjoyed this.
This is something that I think is missing completely in today's jazz world.
There are two extremes today.. the numbingly dull Smooth World, and the other world where there are no original thoughts or ideas, just carbon copies of overplayed lines and licks.
You managed to avoid both worlds, and create good solid jazz.

Oh yeah, one other thing - I have that same shirt you are wearing on your album cover. You have good taste :lol:
mm
Thanks madgrocer. Such wonderful compliments- I appreciate it.
I was really pleased with how the soprano sounded. I had just bought a new mouthpiece to use on that session. It's a metal Link 8* that's been working very well for me.
Mark5047- Thanks to you too! That's a fun tune to play. I have a big band chart on it that I'd like to record someday.
Re: the shirt-
Just doing what comes naturally. Every sax player should own at least one shirt with a picture of a sax on it. 8-)
