Selmer USA is the sole US importer for Selmer Paris. Selmer USA owns the US rights to the name so they can use it forever if they so choose. Selmer USA and Selmer Paris are two totally independent companies.
As far as the saxes themeselves go- they are also totally different animals.

Selmer USA started back in the 1920s when it was then known as Selmer America. George Bundy was the founder of the company and worked directly with Henri Selmer to establish Selmer(Paris) in the American market.

Didn't Alexandre Selmer start Selmer USA, then hired George Bundy to run it when Alexandre went back to Paris to show brother Henri how to make Clarinets ??

Alexander Selmer was born in 1864.
Frédéric’s thirteenth child, he studied clarinet with Mister Rosse at the Paris Conservatoire.
He became, as his brother Henri, a clarinettist at the Opéra Comique, then boarded for the United States in 1895.
He met a large success and played as a soloist in the biggest American orchestras (one after the other : " Boston Symphony Orchestra " " Cincinnati Symphony " and " New York Philharmonic Orchestra " conducted by Gustav Malher.)
He took the most of his stay in the United States to found the Selmer- USA company.
Thanks to his strong personality and to the respect of his colleagues, he helped his brother Henri, in this way, to give out and to impose his instruments after he appointed one of his former pupils, Georges Bundy who had become one of his colleagues, as a manager for his business.
He brought a precious help to Henri for the adjustment of Selmer clarinets’ new ranges.

..

Thus the History of Selmer USA H&A saxes ... H&A = Henri & Alexandre

fyi, for those clarinet ppl out there

Alexandre Selmer produced his own line of clarinets in the USA branded "Alexandre". He then moved production for a short time to Paris when he went back over there, until he stopped production. At which time the Henri Selmer clarinets where basically his design.
