Hey guys!
So, has anyone tried out the new Custom EX? I play all Customs as of now, and am interested to see what the new EX is like. From what i have heard, it doesnt sound like any drastic changes have been made; more of a facelift on the original 875.

Anyhow, I would love to hear any comments you all may have!

I played the AltoEX at NAMM in January.
They only had 1 Alto and no plating options to see, so the real focus ended up being th 82Z.
I have played 875 Alto and Tenor saxes for many years now.
The EX seemed to be freer with a very similiar sound to my 875's, but I don't know how much of that was the G1 neck.
I like the concept of freeing up the horn for better vibration and think it should be an improvement overall.
It will be a while before they have them in stores for we, the jury to make a real verdict. Until then...
I will be waiting with you-all to see.

I've played a newer YAS-875 for a couple years that had the G1 neck. I tried the 875EX at the Saxophone Symposium at George Mason this past January and frankly it was no different from my 875. My suggestion for current 875 owners is to try the G1 neck if you have the M1.

Yeah, I have the G1 on my 875 alto already. I may try out an EX to see if there is really any difference, but it doesnt sound like there really is one.
