View Full Version : need mark6 nek replacement MasterPiece or Gloger?
My M6 neck has had an accident and became useless  From what i understand is that Masterpiece or Gloger necks offer a good alternative.
Does anyone have any feedback as to how these 2 compare to one another, soundwise.

Masterpiece are excellent necks for a MK6 - a huge improvement on my original Selmer neck. Better intonation, fuller sound, better response.
Check out some of the other threads on this neck - unfortunately I do not have Gloger expreience, but they would have to be very good to beat Masterpiece.

Luke,
I have two MK VI Gloger curve neck in copper for you to try. They are for sale too.
One of the necks is for an early vintage (the tenon size is larger) and other neck is a satin copper with the tenon size for the later vintage horn. Both have no lacquer. You can take one on trial as long as you pay in full, there is no obligation to purchase except unfundable $50.00 shipping fee.
Also if the tenon is too small on the one neck, if you were to purchase the neck, you can receive free of charge another tenon size for a better fit. (of course you would spring for the soldering cost, or send it back to The Netherlands for the cost of shipping).
the price for either neck includes shipping $568.00
Remember, these are hand made necks.

Hello Mad Duran,
I am highly interested in this copper neck for my Mark VI. I also need a neck for a Conn Lady Face.
I am confused of your location. You are talking about the Netherlands but are emailing from San Fransisco.
Maybe we can do this in a more elegant way?

I live in San Francisco and the neck are made in the Netherlands, but I have two MK VI necks for sale ready to ship to an interested party.
As far as the Conn replacement neck, you would have to order from me, there is a 4-6 week wait.
The MK VI neck is available sent from San Francisco.
Please feel free to call me: 415 775-7626
I do have several people interested in these necks, so I don't know how long it will be available, but you can always order one, with no obligation to buy.
thanks,
mad

I checked Gloger's site. They do not have super 20 in they list of necks. If I want to get one made for an alto, do I need to sent my original neck to them? How much would that cost me?

I personally have a Masterpiece, and find it to be EXCELLENT, and a big improvement over the original, which is in good shape.
Gloger has a fine reputation, and I am sure you would be happy with that product, too.

Keith,
I checked with Gloger about your alto super 20, no problem he has all the information he needs and can make the neck.

From what I've seen with necks - and although I'm not a pro by any means I have certainly tried a lot of necks - it's highly individual. So like mouthpieces or horns you really need to try them.
I never tried the masterpiece neck because at the the time ( may still be the same) - the only place to get one was from Steve Goodson and he wanted you to send him your horn for fitting, and then you didn't have a trial period you had to keep it - so it was expensive.
With Madd and the Gloger necks you get a trial period and that's essential to me. I tried one of Madd's necks and though I didn't keep it - it did play extremely well and dealing with Madd even in returning it was a real pleasure.

Hmm - Hope I didn't put my foot in my mouth here - I don't know what Madd & Gloger's policy is if they make one up special for you.

No that's right Lenny, thank you for the kind words, and I do want you to feel special, but Gloger's policy is to give everyone a trial period of 10 days and sometimes longer depending on some things. He really doesn't want you to pay for his necks if you are not happy with it. That one reason he has such a good reputation, because he is a decent hard working artist.
I have a Gloger silver neck on my Super 20 Tenor and couldn't be happier. It has an underslung octave key, and improved dynamics, upper harmonics and intonation....all this, plus his customer service is as good as it gets! I highly recommend his necks.
