Hey there friends, Just a shout out to those of you
who...might of heard me mention this guys name from time to time.
PETER LOEB. HE IS A HUGE INSPIRATION TO ME MUSICALLY.
Years ago @1973...I heard him sit in at the Village Gate with Sonny Stitt ( with Bu Pleasants on organ)
and hang with everything Sonny had thrown his way.
PLUS...really play THE SAXOPHONE in a highly personal manner. He's a hard blower from the Booker Ervin-Roland Kirk era...with chops on all other saxes, bass, drums and piano.
THIS DUDE MEANS BUSINESS !!!!
His love affair with Roland Kirk was evident to me as soon as I heard him in 73'.
I'm in the midst of finishing liner notes on his C.D.
I thought I'd give ya'll a heads up on his web sight.
If you heard me mention..."The cats ya never heard of"....well he is one of them.A MAJOR PLAYER....and a great person as well.
Check his web sight and get a taste of what he's into.

His saxophone playing flips me out.Very few folks are playing jazz tenor at this intensity and originality.
Check his picture gallery,WHO sat in with Kirk AND Don Byas!?!??!?
Peter Loeb is serious biz...and I'm telling ya....AND ONE AMAZING MUSICIAN.
I'm thrilled to pull your coats about Peter Loeb...check out his stuff, and look for the CD soon-TIA- Tim Price

Dig.. I'm tellin' ya Peter is a serious player.Ok, a bit of fact here as well.
Ever hear of the composer John Jacob Loeb? He wrote " Seems Like Old Times" and tunes like "Sweetie Pie"..which everyone from Getz to Fats Waller recorded.Well-that is Peters dad.
Peter, is a no nonsense, hardball tenor player...and plays things on
piano, bass and drums that are killin'.
Jaki Byard was one of his mentors along with Roland kirk. Not bad company huh? A few weeks ago I heard Peter at a session play some of the best saxello and upright bass ever.Talk about a multi-talent.
He's someone I'm tryin' to help get some due.He plays in another level from most today.EG-WHO...sits in with Kirk and Byas at THE VANGUARD when they were a young dude?? Hmmm??
More soon, gladyou dug  8)

Glad you dug it.You should hear Peter play bass. WOW-
Plus check out ALL the songs his dad wrote.
" Seems like old times"...is just the tip of the iceberg as they say.

Loeb was teenage friends with Roland Kirk.
Talk about learing from the mouth of a master!!!
