I have a Vandoren V5 mouthpiece with a b75 facing. this is a **big** mouthpiece. and it thus has a wide facing, while most reeds will barely cover the sides, I am looking for a reed that is a bit larger. anyone have any reccomendations? Im trying to get a fusion like harsh sound common to some rock saxes. I have other mouthpieces for smooth and semi-harsh. this one is for fun :D

Please tell us you've tried Vandoren reeds on your Vandoren piece! Remember, they have half-strengths for bari now.

lol, yes in numerous strengths, traditionals (blue box). Javas are hard to come by for bari round here. and V16s are thinner anyway.

Legere synthetic reeds fit well on the B75, and may give you the sound you want. I'd suggest starting with a #3 or so...

Im not a big fan of synthetic reeds, but maybe that because I have only played on the bari brand. sure a #3, sounds a bit hard for this open of a mouth piece (I cant belive they have 1/4 sizes, impressive) I dont want to spend $14 on a reed that sound right.

wow grammar and punctuation errors like crazy (I should check more carefully before I submit):

wont, wont sound right. wow sorry for the muliple posts, but that was annoying me. *smacks forehead*
I switched to Legere on bari several months ago and couldn't be happier. I went from a 2.5 hemke to a 2 legere. These things run hard. But they NEVER change. I bit the bullet and bought 5 of them from Weiner Music ($12 each at that volume). Thank god I love them.
They are significantly thicker and wider than most cane so I also had to switch ligs.

Legeres are very dark and Bari brands are very bright. Fibracells are in the middle somewhere. Softer Fibracells are buzzy compared to the harder ones.

I've been using Bari mediums for about 14 years now and have been pleased with them...tried a Legere but couldn't get squat for sound out of it! Recently changed mouthpieces from a Otto Link 6* I had been using for 25 years to a JodyJazz "Q" 12...thoroughly ehjoying the new setup...
