I'm curious.
I've been playing a Florida Link 8* since 1970. Great piece as I've written before. Recently after some hunting, I wound up with a Phil Barone Jazz 8.
This piece is based ,not on a Florida Link, but on an older Link.
The tonal spectrum is still dark, but with a richer tonal spectrum. The slightly smaller opening is also proving a positive.
I also wrote a pretty extensive review on this board.
Now, in an effort to bring myself up to speed, I'm curious what else is out there and why you like 'em.

I was playing a Bob Ackerman lost wax Link a little and that was like a Rubber Slant/Fl rubber Link(supposedly a carbon copy) I actually didn't keep it because I like dark and I have a 7* rubber Link I really like .It's newer but is the right amount of darkness I like. I also played a Ponzol ML for about 6 Months. That is modeled on metal 60's Links. It was again ultimately too bright for my tastes after time.I went to the NY metal for a while but I think I'll probably not play metal mpcs again. It was a trail for a while . The NY is nice and dark, fat, but I really like the feel of a HR mpc. I tried 3 barone Vintage HR mpcs and really did not like those at all. I have always liked HR Links and have owned several. I also had a custom Doc Tenney mpc in HR that I used about 6 months as well. I sold it back to Doc. It was nice but this particular HR Link I have now is my favorite to date. I tried Nefertiti 's HR Link when he came to my house and would have remortgaged the place for that one. It was a FLA. and it was like mine only bigger.fatter and louder. He's got a beauty done by JVW. Boy I miss him already RIP Jon. I hope this helps a little.

Mike C:
Are you saying that you have an unmodified current production HR Link that you love?

Yeah,I have a HR Link I got about 9 months ago that was used but isn't vintage that I know of. It looks older but I don't think it is a early babbitt. To be honest i'm not sure but I like the way it plays. I would like what Nefertiti has but the price tag is huge for that type mpc IF you could find one.
