I'd like to know peoples opinions on the Phil Barone NY, is it better than a meyer as phils website claims - I'm playing mainly Blues with a splash of jazz on a Martin Com1 with a new wonder1 in reserve.

I'm playing the Phil Barone alto mpc mainly right now, and absolutely love it... It's have the sound that I'm looking for, very easy blowing. I tried a Meyer at a local store and didn't like it, the sound is sweet but it's so hard to control and not easy blowing... Well, that was my experience, others might have different.

They are nice pieces. I had one, but sold it when I settled on the JJ ESP full time on alto.

I think Phil's pieces will beat a stock Meyer any day of the week. They are Meyerish but the finish work is much better. I bought one off ebay that was "different" from current producton models and a really good player.

Saxdog in my experience Fred Lamberson makes a far better Meyor type piece than Barone .I've had two Barone's a NY 6M and 5M and they were poor .Fred's M models are the best Meyor type pieces I've had ( I've got two ) Fred is also a good bloke to deal with.

I play one of phil's NY Piece. It has been my primary piece on alto for about 2 yrs. That has been my only sax piece (bari, tenor) that have not and do not want to switch since trying. Coelho pieces are OK but for the price I think overrated. My 2 cents.
