Can anyone tell me what the different is between LaVoz and standard Rico? I am currently playing a Lamberson SB and like Rico's the most right now. However, I feel like they could play a little fuller. I was wondering if LaVoz would accomplish this.

You'll get more projection with La Voz reeds of the same strenght.

Thats a pretty good summation, all in one short sentence. I find both to quite consistent, though standard rico more so than LaVoz, but to me it feels that LaVoz of 'equivalent' strength run a little harder than standard ricos (which seem to be softer than they used to).

The best way to find the differences is to buy a box (yes a whole box) of each and try them for yourself.

I found Rico more consistent. I would play a Lavoz MH or a Rico 3 1/2 tenor reed. Last few boxes of LaVoz I tried were all junk. This was about 1 1/2 to 2 years ago. I've been with Rico orange since with good results.

LaVaz runs a bit harder. It is a bit brighter as well as the tip is harder.

I won't touch LaVoz with a ten foot pole (though I did find ONE that played like nobody's business once). But then, if we're talking Orange box Ricos, I won't go near them either. My choices for Jazz are tenor: Vandoren ZZ or Rico Jazz Select and alto: Hemke (I'm still playing around on alto reeds) Classical, It's vandoren originals all the way for both horns. Some take a little work, but I've never found another reed that will last for a year and then some, playing with classical demands of consistency.

i used La Voz hards on all of my horns for a while. I still use them on tenor, though I have switched to Fibracell on alto and plasticovers on Bari. La Voz have given me the fullest sound on tenor out of all the reeds I've tried.
