Hi,
Does anyone know a good DVD on Sax lessons? (Tenor)
Can't seem to find much at all!
Anything will do.. However, my main interest is Rock and Roll.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Johnnyboy ( johnnyboy@chariot.net.au )
P.S..I am in South Australia.

learning through a DVD. not exactly the best of methods (though possible with some initiative) in my opinion, but you can try going to www.sheetmusicplus.com or saxophones.co.uk and look for DVDs teaching one how to play the sax. my advice would be to complement the DVDs with various books (sue terry has a couple of good ones, and the omnibook(?) series by raphael ravenscroft is pretty complete).
some words of caution though. we all have unique anatomies, so our embouchures and techniques are all a little different. some more obvious, others a little more subtle. it's like our sax fingerprint. as such, i would urge you to look through the posts in this forum frequently, especially the beginner section, as there are a lot of threads dedicated to questions a beginner normally has. besides that, just experiment and find what's comfortable for you without straying too far from the norm.
the best option would be to find a teacher though.

WW&BW has the Ed Calle Ultimate Beginner Series DVD(volumes 1&2), but he's playing alto on it......you can probably get the Eric Marienthal "Modern Sax" and "tricks of the Trade" ones either at WW&BW or Sheetmusicplus.......Texas Music & Video(800-874-8384) has a few.......I wouldn't worry about them not being specifically for tenor as the lessons will help no matter what your playing....good luck!

Well, I figured by now he must have them on DVD also, but you're correct(I hate when that happens)! So, dig out and dust off the VHS tape player(it helps to be flexible in todays' world, even in Singapore)........ :D

are you looking for instruction on physically playing the sax, how to finger notes etc, or on how to play in the R&R, R&B, Blues styles?
