i really appreciate the advice. i have a feeling you guys may be right. i tried some other altos, (reference alto, yamahas) and they didn't come close to my six, no contest.

my main frustration. finding a setup that allows me to play full round notes from d to f#, yet is easy to blow. does such a mp exist on alto? the easy part has to do with endurance and the need for notes to come out effortlessly while improvsing. on alto i have to work so hard to support my sound i get tired and have no energy left to improvise. or if i get an easier reed then d-f# sounds like a bird chirping...sigh*******

Try to put your mouth near the pholcrium point. Normally if you do that you notes thicken and come easlier in tune. also try to play with the sax mouthpiece in a different angle in your mouth. If that doesn't work then just mess around with carving reads (trimming them) or even mouthpieces (risky but might work). As for mouthpieces i would reccomend you just try a lot of them out. I hope this helps you alittle.
