When I was in college one of my instructors had a tool to cut strips out of the butt of the reed. The theory was that warped reeds would flatten to the mouthpiece if there was less resistance in the butt of the reed. I have since lost this tool and can't recall the name. Has anyone heard of this? The tool was used for woodcarving and looked very much like a scredriver that had a very sharp, small curved end. Thanks for your help!
